This rug comes from a village outside of Asni and was made by Hajar who lives in the village that Khadija lives in.
We first met Khadijah over a year ago at the women's only market held every Monday in the center of town.
The Boucherouite (pronounced boo-shay-reet) weave is made of various recycled clothing and textile scraps. These rugs were not originally intended to be sold as they were mostly used in the weavers’ own homes.
This timeless piece represents generations of tradition and symbolism.
